Preparing for Butterfly Visitors

I have sure been busy around here! Taking out old plants from last season, turning dirt and adding new dirt and pruning bushes to Prepare for Butterly Visitors!

In my research and prep work I have learned that not only do you need Milkweed for the butterflies to lay their eggs on but this is the only plant the caterpillars can eat. Along with Milkweed you need to put in nectar plants to attract the butterflies.

In an effort to save money I went with all seeds since plants are so very expensive (in my opinion). Except for one. You will see it at the end of the garden a Golden Jasmine which is a vine a beautiful terrace. So I found some Milkweed seeds on Amazon (I swear they are taking over the world!) I got 6 different varieties as well as some seeds that specifically say for butterflies on them. Do I remember the names, no but that is not what I'm here to talk about. Do your research and find out what works in your corner of the world.

I can't believe in all my years of gardening I am not pulling weeds but planting them!! Actually buying the seeds!! I have also heard that once you plant everything for a Butterfly Garden all you do is water it. The more over grown the better!! Sounds like it is time to sit back, water and watch it grow and wait for my Butterfly Visitors to find us.
